Friction Arts // MMM Project Manager

December 2020 - present

Multicultural Music Making (MMM) is a high-quality music in education programme for young people in the West Midlands and is a partnership between Friction Arts and Creative Director Natalie Mason, funded by Youth Music. Now in its sixth year, the project works in partnership with primary and secondary schools in Birmingham and community settings in Walsall. MMM draws on the strengths of the young musicians taking part, who live in and around Birmingham and Walsall and have connections to all corners of the world. The project creatively celebrates the international journeys that music and the young musicians themselves have made, with participant-led sessions based on the MMM ‘Principles of Practice’, developed and supported by high quality ethnomusicological research.

In my role as MMM Project Manager I work closely with Natalie, Friction Arts, our team of MMM musicians and our partners to plan, deliver and evaluate the project.
