THSH // Learning and Participation Project Manager

November 2015 – May 2019

Town Hall and Symphony Hall are at Birmingham’s cultural heart and as a registered charity we have one mission: to inspire a love of live music, through performance, participation and learning.

Each year, Town Hall and Symphony Hall connects over 18,000 young people and adults to a world of music and performance across the West Midlands.

I managed a portfolio of schools, young people and community projects, overseeing projects from conception to delivery, including creating partnerships, putting together artistic teams, budgeting and evaluation.

Highlights include:

  • the annual Generation Ladywood Showcase premiering a new jazz work for over 250 of young musicians from Ladywood primary and secondary schools

  • Marking the 70th anniversary of Windrush through a showcase of new commissions of music and dance

  • Overseeing the community music programme Live in the Lodge in Falcon Lodge, consisting of weekly music tuition and a community choir

  • Overseeing the ‘Soundbounce’ early-years programme working with musicians Natalie Mason and Sara Colman and young 3-5 year olds using music as a tool for language and confidence development.
